An Evening With Susana Sorí
Susana will be holding a variety of courses this fall at the Alchemical University.  We invite you to meet her at an Alchemical Courtyard community open house at 7:00 pm, September 25, 2008. There will be a viewing of major excerpts from the film 2012: The Odyssey, followed by a lively discussion and Q & A with Susana. Susana is a shaman, brilliant counselor, visual artist and teacher with a warm and compassionate personal style.

Practitioner Corner: Why I Love Teaching Yoga

I was a woefully immature yogi when I taught my first class. Having only practiced yoga for 2 years I barely knew what I was doing on my own mat much less how to tell others what to do on theirs! But there I was (chosen by class vote when our teacher moved) and, what I lacked in expertise, I made up for with the devotion I had to the transforming tradition of hatha yoga.

Nearly 35 years after that first class I continue to be in awe of how potent yoga can be as a guide to living on every level and, I continue to teach yoga. I’ve learned as much as I taught...

Practitioner Corner: The Power of Action

I have always been driven to action: action as play and entertainment; action as learning; action as commitment and duty. Yet, the greatest reason for action in my life is using action to break through the energy of fear and ‘imagined’ limitation.

Recently, a few days after completing a session for a client, she wrote:
“When I heard about the positive action I was to do after my session, I was lit! I was so excited and happy. Then, a week later, I was feeling sad and resistant to the idea that a positive action would solve my issues and make me happy....

Ban on Pthalates

In a victory, long overdue, Congressional negotiators finally agreed July, 2008, to a ban on a family of toxins found in children's products, handing a major victory to parents and health experts who have been clamoring for the government to remove harmful chemicals from toys.

The ban, which would take effect in six months, would have significant implications for U.S. consumers, whose homes are filled with hundreds of plastic products designed for children that may be causing dangerous health effects.

The rare action by Congress reflects a growing body of scientific research showing that children ingest the toxins by acts as simple as chewing on a rubber duck. Used for decades in plastic production, the chemicals appear to act as hormones and potentially cause reproductive problems, especially in boys.
